THE SCHOOL’S ADVISORY BOARD
The Ambassadors for Christ International School Advisory Board will comprise of leaders and influencers with wide-ranging backgrounds, experience and expertise in Christian ministry, business, non-profit management, education, media and organization leadership. Their ideas, insights and extensive networks are rich resource for guidance, fundraising, partnerships and mobilization towards the fulfilment of the mission of the school. Specifically, their roles will include:
Participation
- A willingness and commitment to get to know the school and the environment in which it operates.
- Regular attendance to meetings (mostly virtual) with adequate preparation
- A collective commitment to the school and desire to help it achieve its mission
- Sincere support for the Managing Director of the school to enable him carry his duties
- A commitment to teamwork
Leadership, governance and oversight
- Serving as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director as s/he develops and implements AfCIS’s strategic plan
- Assisting the Managing Director and other members in identifying and recruiting other advisory board members
- Partnering with the Managing Director and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
- Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
- Representing AfCIS to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the school
Key Responsibilities
- The primary responsibility of the AfCIS Advisory Board is to act as an advisor to the Managing Director and the School Management in regard to fulfillment of the school’s mission statement.
- The advisory board shall also seek to shepherd the spiritual, financial and leadership health and mission of the school.
- The advisory board also acts as a resource for the school’s administrators in that its members possess expertise in various areas. From time to time, the Managing Director may request board members’ assistance or advice in certain areas of his administrative duties.
- The function of the Advisory Board may manifest itself in direct aid to the school administration or in overseeing a committee which had been delegated to such a task.
- Members of the Advisory Board are expected to connect the school and forge partnerships and exchanges with other like-minded schools, churches, missions, individuals and other sister organizations to promote and meet its goals.
- Actively supports and promotes the mission of the school.
- Get to know about the school’s mission and goals as well as current operations and issues.
Qualifications
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate to serve God and children from underserved communities in Ghana. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- A Christian and have passion to serve the Lord through children’s ministry.
- Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, education, ministry, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
- A commitment to and understanding of AfCIS’s beneficiaries, preferably based on hands-on experience
- Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of AfCIS’s beneficiaries
Board participation terms
Remuneration
AfCIS Advisory Board members will serve a three-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for two additional terms. Board meetings will be held quarterly and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full board meetings.
Service on AfCIS’s Advisory Board is without remuneration.
